Pneumonia, a common and potentially life-threatening respiratory infection, affects millions of individuals globally. While advances in medical treatment have significantly reduced mortality rates, the aftermath of pneumonia can be characterized by physical, psychological, and social challenges. This review article explores the critical relevance of post-pneumonia rehabilitation in facilitating optimal recovery and enhancing the quality of life for affected individuals. Key domains of post-pneumonia rehabilitation include physical recovery, respiratory rehabilitation, psychological support, nutritional rehabilitation, functional independence, and cardiopulmonary fitness. Additionally, speech and swallowing rehabilitation are essential in cases of upper airway involvement. We discuss the materials and methodologies employed in post-pneumonia rehabilitation and underscore the importance of a comprehensive approach. The significance of this topic extends beyond individual patient outcomes, potentially reducing the societal burden of pneumonia-related morbidity. Post-pneumonia rehabilitation should be integral to pneumonia management, with ongoing research aimed at optimizing protocols and improving long-term prognosis for survivors.
